Facial Paralysis: Bell's Palsy
Bell’s palsy is a sudden, temporary facial paralysis that occurs due to the inflammation orcompression of the facial nerve. This condition is thought to result from viral infections, commonly the herpes simplex virus (HSV), that cause nerve inflammation and subsequent facial muscle weakness or paralysis. It primarily affects one side of the face, causing drooping of the mouth, inability to close the eye, and difficulty in smiling or making facial expressions.
